An exciting opportunity for UK-based ballet dancers to audition for contracts with UK-based / touring companies
A chance to gain valuable audition and performance experience by showing your work in a ballet class, a classical solo and a short contemporary class. There will be contracts on offer from some of the companies on the panel.
The first ever Ballet Audition Platform UK took place on August 20th 2023 and was a great success, with directors on the panel and dancers all feeding back to us that they found the event very useful and enjoyable. BAP UK 2023 had the following outcomes:
Number of ballet company directors on panel: 9
Number of contracts offered on the day: 16
Number of contacts made with offers of class/apprenticeships/reserves for contracts : 21
Ballet Audition Platform UK was created to help the large number of young UK-based dancers that have graduated from full time vocational training and that are finding it difficult to get work, a situation that has been exacerbated by Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic. The hope is that the establishment of the platform will help enable the employment of “home-grown” dancers in UK based companies.
There are 2 categories as follows:
- 17-20 for advanced students and recent graduates
- 20+ for graduates and young professionals
The panel will include directors of companies, mostly based in the UK that can offer short to medium term freelance contracts, companies confirmed so far include:
Cork City Ballet
Mergaliyev Classical Ballet
Chevalier Ballet
English Youth Ballet
Brecon Festival Ballet
Kirrill Burlov Dance
BalletFolk
Bristol Russian Ballet Youth Company (Guest Principal contracts)

APPLICATIONS OPEN ON MAY 1ST 2024 AND CLOSE ON JULY 12TH , SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL BE NOTIFIED WEEK COMMENCING JULY 22nd
Successful applicants will be required to pay an entrance fee of £60
